Merchandising can impact the patient experience, which can in turn increase sales. Creating an inviting space that is easy to navigate with clear messaging, mirrors, and appropriate lighting can make a clear difference.

There is some magic behind the merchandising madness. Consider these merchandising strategies:

  1. Eye level presentation. Remember the average woman is about 5’4” when you display your products.
  2. Mind of the shopper. Think like your customers and merchandise your products from their perspective: category, then brand, then products.
  3. Consistency. The adage consistency is key is true. Your patients crave consistency in look and feel because it makes shopping easy and fun.
  4. Shoppable displays. Creating an experience that lends itself to being shopped is how to turn exams into frame purchases.

Once you’ve made some tweaks, put on your ‘patient’ cap and walk through your office to identify any additional areas of opportunity. Patients that have an easy-to-navigate, simple experience will be more likely to walk out with some new specs!
