How can I use Facebook analytics to identify best practices? Our expert responds.

There are a few ways to measure success on Facebook, and it’s not just about how many people like your page – engagement is key. Learning to decipher your Facebook analytics will help you make informed decisions about what posts resonate with your audience and the best times to reach them.

Where to find Facebook analytics.

When you use your Facebook business page (that you have administrative rights to), you can view how well posts are performing by clicking on the “Insights” tab at the top of the page.

This will bring you to a dashboard that shows recent activity on your Facebook page in a series of graphs. Below the graphs, you can find insights for your individual posts, which are listed in chronological order. This allows you to see how your posts are performing:

  • Reach is the number of people that may have seen your post in their newsfeed.
  • Engagement is the total likes, comments and shares your post has received.

Learn more about your audience.
You can learn about your audience through Facebook Insights in the section titled, “People.” This will provide the demographics of your Facebook fans including age, gender and geographic location.

Determine the best time to post.
By regularly monitoring your Facebook Insights, you can also determine the best times to publish new posts. This information can be found in the “Posts” section, which shows you when your Facebook fans are online.

Is your audience most active after business hours? Consider scheduling posts in advance. This can also be done through Social Media Management through My Marketing Team, which also provides you with ready-to-use content including eye care facts, holiday posts and featured campaigns.
