Best Practices For Facebook Cover Photos
Your cover photo and profile image are among the first things that greet visitors to your Facebook page, so make your first impression count with these tips to optimize your Facebook cover photo.
Let Your Practice Shine
Your cover photo gives you the opportunity to introduce your practice’s brand. Showcase your strengths with a cover photo that matches the feel of your practice. Do you pride your practice in being fashion forward, kid friendly, or tech savvy? Choose a cover photo that reflects your practice’s personality. You can also use your cover photo to showcase an upcoming event, new frame line, or staff photo. Just be sure to check that they are in compliance with Facebook guidelines; cover photos are not intended to be used as an advertisement or ask for “likes.”
Maximize Real Estate
If you are designing your own cover photo, or using a photo you’ve taken, keep in mind the recommended specs: 851 pixels wide x 315 pixels high. For larger photos you can drag the image up or down to best fit the allotted space, but sometimes it may need to be resized or cropped to best frame the image. Tip: Be mindful when choosing a cover photo that your profile image doesn’t block key elements like text.
Keep it Fresh
Keep your page looking its best; update your cover photo on a regular basis. This could be monthly, seasonally, or when you have something special to highlight. To help you get started, we’ve added professionally designed cover photos to our monthly offering of Facebook posts through our free Social Media Management service from My Marketing Team. We even have a preview of this month’s new cover photos.
